Government officials in the US are using location data from millions of mobile phones to better understand the movements of Americans during the coronavirus pandemic and its potential impact on the spread of the disease.
What is Cell Tower Lock?
Cell Tower Lock lets the user lock the phone to the desired cell tower, avoiding the phone handover (connection) to an IMSI Catcher/GSM Interceptor.
Cell Tower Lock can also spoof the phone’s GSM real location by locking it to the farthest cell tower it can “see.” This function is effective against location tracking procedures initiated by an IMSI Catcher/GSM Interceptor, the network operator, or via SS7 attacks. More, here
